You gotta love anything that's free... if it's free it's for me. I am ecstatic to share the following 5 math freebies with you guys!! If your students are struggling with fractions, the following games and activities will help them master this concept.

1. Fraction Scoot Freebie: I grabbed this fabulous freebie from math coach corner. Are your students having a hard time differentiating between a part and whole of a fraction? No worries, fraction scoot will help. Its also an excellent game for kinesthetic learners who wiggle and squirm in their seats. It will allow them to get up and move around the classroom which they love.

2. Spin & Share Freebie - Students make cookies out of play dough. Then they spin the spinner to determine how to cut their cookie and record the fraction on the recording sheet. There are two spinners - one with fractions and another that shows how many children will share the cookie (in case you haven't taught them to read fractions).

Build a Cookie Freebie - For two players. Students roll a fraction die and add that fraction of a cookie to their page. First to make 5 cookies wins! You could also use the fraction spinner from above.

Fun Math Facts:

Math Limerick

Question: Why is this a mathematical limerick?

( (12 + 144 + 20 + 3 Sqrt[4]) / 7 ) + 5*11 = 92 + 0 .

A dozen, a gross, and a score,
plus three times the square root of four, divided by seven, plus five times eleven, is nine squared and not a bit more.

---Jon Saxton (math textbook author)

Presentation Suggestions:
Challenge students to invent their own math limerick!
